A 4.0 is a 4.0 is a 4.0

It's really easy to justify your grades in a weighted way; a 3.0 from Harvard is clearly better than a 4.0 from a community college right?? And a 2.75 for a chemical engineering major isn't too shabby right?! Sadly, law school {and graduate schools} can't possibly weight your GPA the way that you think would make it fair. This may sound bad, almost like cheating, but when choosing a school and a program, it is to your advantage to choose one that you can excel at. Scholarships are more readily available for students who have a higher GPA and schools almost always choose the candidate with the greater academic profile. So while going to a well-known school and picking a challenging major may seem like it will make you stand out as a candidate, admissions reviewers are more concerned with your GPA. If a graduate program is your goal, set yourself up for success during your undergrad!
